Very good news from the Army

Apparently, the Army has finally decided to adopt the Nagl/Petraeus reforms and has appointed Petraeus to the promotion board for general officers. This will mean that, finally, the Army will adopt the lessons of Iraq in its doctrine of war fighting. The likelihood of a conventional war with set-piece battles has receded to a minor concern for the forseeable future.

    This is very encouraging.

Now I’m wondering how we get the quislings out of the State department, and at least get some barely competent people in there, so we can quit going backwards.

  2. Doombuggy,

A quisling is a traitor. Someone else a number of years back gained notoriety by claiming the State Department was infilitrated with those disloyal to the United States. You really wanna go there?

  3. BTW,

I do agree that Petraeus’ new role in picking generals is very good news. And if Petraeus succeeds (still up in the air), he’s going to be presidential timber.

  4. I agree, Bradley. He would be the first president with a PhD. That should appeal to the folks who made “The American President.” Except it won’t.

Bradley J Fikes, I need one word to describe a bureaucratic organization that replaces the long term interests of the country with short term, insider, office politic gains.

Dr. K, Woodrow Wilson must have gotten a PHD somewhere along the line.
