We are getting ready to board the ship soon and we have an adventure to look forward to. Hurricane Paloma right across our track. The forecast shows it just east of Cuba Monday. We should pass across the front of its path tonight and tomorrow so we may miss it altogether. Let’s hope so.
Our course runs from Ft Lauderdale to Puerto Rico. We’ll se how it goes.
Will FEMA be on board to make sure conservative cruise-ship passengers have what they need–cigars, brandy, copies of the Weekly Standard–should things get rough?
Seriously, post an update when you get through it. I hope you guys don’t get too battered about!
Stay safe and take some pictures of the storm if you can.
Make sure you take advantage of those cigars and brandy.
Have a great trip, Dr. K. I don’t recall if you are a brandy drinker. There is a brandy you should try: Germain-Robin XO. Seriously.
Safe trip and update us….and be sure to pick Chris Buckley’s pocket if he is there (yeah, I know he backed out: to sup with the devil requires a long spoon, as the saying goes…at least on an NRO cruise!).
The cruise is over and we avoided the hurricane. Miami airport is even worse than LAX but the rest of the trip was fun. I’ll post some summaries of the meetings when I get home.
Glad you and your wife had a fun trip. I look forward to reading your impressions of the cruise!
Being near one of these on a cruise ship is totally freakin scary. I sympathize with anyone who has been through it.
These increasingly intense storms do not bode well for Cuba’s tobacco crops. Major bummer.
