The Department of Homeland Security has taken leave of its senses and now wants to convince us that Islam is not related to terrorism. The Half-Hour News Hour had a show recently that must look like that DHS meeting where they came up with this policy.
I suspect that they are trying to gain the support of moderate Muslims.
I haven’t heard much from those moderate Muslims. You?
The moderates are the ones not blowing themselves up. They are easy to recognize. Actually, my daughter was in Morocco last week and loved it. Her girlfriend, who accompanied her, speaks a little Arabic and they loved it when they saw an American girl speak Arabic. They spent two nights with a family and said everyone was very open and friendly. Morocco is the only Arab country that is really a friend. The king is doing a very good job of bringing his country into the modern age. Even so, there are lots of young Moroccan men who are terrorists, mostly in Europe.
And it isn’t a surprise. Poor, reliant on government handouts, plenty of free time. These things generate a sense of resentment toward the “haves” in the world.
No real solution, other than modernization.
On the other hand, the evil men who crashed planes into the Twin Towers were not poor. They were children of privilege.
Lots of doctors and engineers are terrorists although, unfortunately, they aren’t the ones blowing themselves up, with a few exceptions.
