During World War II the soldiers were all required to attend a series of movies made by the then-patriotic Hollywood studios. The movie series was called “Why We Fight.” This article in City Journal would make a worthy addition to that motivational literature. I am still mystified by political liberals who argue a moral equivalence between our society and the world of Islam where most of them would be subject to instant subjugation, if not worse.
Of course, German rappers disagree.

I’m mystified also. I scan a blog of a nice, thoughtful gay activist, who is still dwelling on the Matthew Shepard case. I haven’t seen one post about Islam.
I’m reminded of Klaus Fuchs, a Manhattan Project physicist who spied for the Soviets. I believe he was asked about the injustices perpetrated by the Soviet system, and he replied, “At the proper time, I was planning to stand up and point out the errors of their ways.”

Oh wonderful: German nihilism coupled with Arab narcissism.
There has got to be a better way.
Honestly, DB, it all comes down to this. “Islam” means “submission.” And many Westerners are without any kind of moral/ethical compass, and I think they want one.
Even a harsh one.
Masochism, thy name is Western Civilization.
I agree Eric, but I notice there is gravitation towards ‘outlaw’ moral schools by a significant chunk of the populace, e.g. rappers, Muslims. I think it harks to what B.F. Skinner noted as our reinforcement by seeing harm done to our enemies.
Tru dat, DB. But notice that the “outlaw” schools are far harsher and more punitive than the nasty institutions against which the rappers and Muslim wish to rebel.
