Michelle Malkin links to this speech by Richard Lamm, former governor of Colorado. I think it is something we should all read.
I’m thinking about the healthcare post but the roses needed pruning.

That was a good read. Did you notice what Glenn Reynolds wrote the other day? “I think that false charges of racism aimed at a professor today are like false charges of unchastity or “loathsome disease” aimed at a woman in 1890 — libelous per se.”
I do like the idea of unity. People want to focus on what makes us different, when there’s so, so much that we as individuals have in common.
Peter Brimelow, author of Alien Nation, has a crack about how our current immigration mess is Hitler’s revenge on America from the grave, because Hitler made it unacceptable for Americans to make any negative comments about anything that involves race or ethnicity.
Wasn’t Lamm the model for Michener’s hero in Centennial?
I read Centennial many years ago and don’t remember a particular hero. It was based on Greeley, CO where Michener taught high school for a while. Sayyid Qtub also taught school in Greeley. Interesting nexus there

The problem is that emphasizing unity does not help Democrats get elected. Therefore, it is “racist.”
