Do these people know something we don’t ?

The lobbyists are all on board with Obama’s health care reform. Why does this sound like bad news ?

“My gut is telling me that something major can pass because all the people who could kill it are still at the table,” said Ken Thorpe, chairman of health policy at Emory University in Atlanta. “Everybody has issues with bits and pieces of it, but all these groups want to get something done this year.” As a senior official at the Health and Human Services department in the 1990s, Thorpe was deeply involved in the Clinton administration’s failed effort.

This time, the health care industry groups see a strategic opportunity. As lawmakers squabble, the groups are focused on how to come out ahead in the end game.

Everybody but the patient will come out ahead. Doctors, of course, will get screwed but don’t ask the AMA. They are on board as their membership flirts with 20%.

This organization may be the reason the lobbyists are so interested. Obama seems to plan removing health care from the democratic system we have. Fuhrerprinzip I think they called it.

Mmm, something funny happened with the blog when I tried to cmoment yesterday.

  3. The whole argument over the health care bill just gets creepier all the time.

The people I talk to who are opposed have actually read parts of the bill and are horrified at what it proposes to do.

The people who are for it know nothing about what is actually contained in the bill but all have stories about someone they know or know of who died or something because they didn’t have health care.

When I explained some of what is actually IN the bills to my sister who was for it all she could do was get confused and insist something needs to be done.

Not to go too far afield, but in a nutshell… Vivian’s observation and comment tells us all we really need to know concerning the future of our country.

    We’re doomed.

    I’ll try it again.

Ahem, well..just one thing. I went to a doc about my hand, he visited 15 minutes, took an xray and gave me an orthotic to brace my thumb. The orthotic costs $25 retail max. His office sent a charge to my insurance of $71, and they allowed $64.

    What’s up with that?

  7. It drives me crazy is what’s the matter. These guys are busy loading more tons of crap on the sinking ship. I’ve done UR for years and even went to Dartmouth thinking I would have a second career measuring quality. The fallacy was that nobody cared about quality. I see cases where doctors are now dispensing concoctions from their offices which are utter crap. I see compounded topical creams for pain that cost $500 per 30 grams when the same stuff is on Amazon.com for $25.

We are all in the same boat but somebody is bailing and others are pouring water into the bilge.
