The Chinese Olympics

This is not a good way to start the Olympic year with China. There already are heads of state boycotting. The Chinese are particularly concerned about face. This could get ugly.

This is a golden opportunity for the Tibetans and people of China. The eyes of the world are watching and they will never get as much attention and focus on this oppression as they will now. Its do or die. Unfortunately, we are not seeing the UN leading this protest nor hearing their outcry. Nor are we hearing anything forcing from our president. I hope more leaders join the outcry. And as ridiculous as it was for the IOC to make this selection, it may inadvertently be the best thing to happen for the people.

    Dear Dana:

I have been disgusted with our policy toward China since Tiananmen Square. My brother would point out that Nixon’s attitude toward China was bad, as well, but I won’t second guess decisions made before I paid a lot of attention to geopolitics. I fear nothing will be done but empty posturing.

What was once a gerontocracy is becoming the usual oligoarchy. And we give them money and trade.

Notice how the Left is silent on China’s horrendous human rights and environmental issues? No, we are the problem with regard to all of that. Feh.

On a happier note, Dana, again, I hope the wedding went well. Very best regards….
