Today the New York Times describes more politicization of science by the Lancet. The cause is female genital mutilation and results are subjected to statistical manipulation to attain “correct” results. Now if they would only turn their attention to gun crime and global warming.
Mike K, is it standard practice for anything to do with the human body, no matter that its the result of an undeniably heinous and barbaric act, to be studied and analyzed as if its an innocuous occurrence?

Actually, Dr. K., I think I know what is going on. Western Civilization has no rules, and no authority. I believe that there is a deep seated drive among many people to “follow the rules.” Even our little anarchist kiddies on campus all go to the same website so they can wear the same T-shirts, yes?
So I suspect that many people are attracted to the absolute authority of Islam. Yes, it denigrates women. But Western civilization often seems to trumpet its lack of rules and consequences.
Allah (pbuh) as seen by fundamentalists presents no gray areas, no questioning. For some people, that is better than the questioning and the destruction of many aspects of ethics we see around us.
Me, I prefer our own imperfect system, mainly because I *know* how the Wahabists would like to run things. Nancy Pelosi should consider that.
