Our future First Lady

UPDATE: I’ve now heard that she is complaining about the need to repay student loans for their educations at Harvard Law School. I presume that means that she does not consider Harvard worth the money since they both could have gone to the U of Illinois Law School as residents at huge savings. That’s good to know.

I don’t think Obama’s election is a foregone conclusion but this statement by his wife, Michelle Obama, is revealing. They don’t like us very much, do they ? Americans, I mean. I guess I can understand it. After all she IS a Harvard lawyer.

You know, Mike K, one must have to be a Harvard lawyer to understand this because I don’t. I really, really don’t.

Well, when the press has spent year after year being as negative as possible toward the Right, and giving many passes to the Left (think of the amazement now that the Left has discovered that the Clintons have few scruples)…what could we expect?

The pendulum swings back and forth. In the olden days, America was great and righteous. Michelle Obama is from that period (because it is my own) where all things American were disparaged.

I would normally say that First Ladies don’t have all that much influence, and then I think of HRC.

Entitlements, Dr. K. Don’t you know that the government owes us all “free” stuff? Didn’t you see the HRC Christmas commercial, having hand out “gifts” of socialized health care? And it is all “free.”

Two responses: you get what you pay for, and the expensive things in the world are often free of charge.

As for Ms. Obama, I think it would be interesting to look at her income versus her student loan griping. If she is giving money to charity that sums the amount necessary for the loan, I can sympathesize. But even so: It. Was. A. Loan. Not a gift.

But government gives you free stuff, right?
